The name is the target: "Room" is an interior that breaks all standards in its class with its extremely generous space and its great number of variations, "(Road)ster" expresses the dynamics and feelings of this study. Skoda Roomster Concept maintains its compact external dimensions and at the same time manages to offer a remarkably generous and flexible interior combined with an attractive dynamic design in one complete and harmonious whole. The compromise between attractiveness on one side and utility value on the other, which has so far been inevitable, is eliminated: the Skoda Roomster study offers both simultaneously and in an exceptional form.
Skoda Roomster is a concept for a compact family vehicle. Its length of 4,055 mm guarantees great handling in city traffic and easy parking. The width of 1,843 mm and especially the height of 1,669 mm exceed all standards usual up to now. This is also true of the unusually large wheelbase, which is 2,710 mm. With its greater width and height, larger wheelbase and original interior arrangement, Skoda Roomster Concept achieves roominess comparable with significantly larger vehicles.
Škoda followed completely new paths with this design. The front of the vehicle resembles the nose of an aircraft. The windshield and the side windows in the front doors form an optically compact strip and thus create an effect totally different from the appearance of current vehicles; it symbolises speed and dynamics. The side window from the B column rises in an elegant curve and its shape alone suggests massive interior space. The shape of the window, the low position of the lower edge of the glass and the glass rear doors express flexibility and openness: they provide not only an unlimited view of the outside, but also an unobstructed view into the interior of the car. Skoda Roomster Concept is quite deliberately designed as a "communicative" vehicle - relaxed, airy and bright. However, the entire body appears robust and compact, as if cast from one piece. The appearance of the body evokes a feeling of robustness, solidity and safety. The bird's eye view of Skoda Roomster Concept is also unusual: both sunroofs and the panorama of the windshield create the shape of an arrow, thus creating a very dynamic impression.

The asymmetrical construction is another innovation introduced with this vehicle: the rear door is only on the passenger side. This door reaches high into the roof, is very wide and there is no obstructing doorsill on the floor. The large opening allows very comfortable access to the back seats and is useful especially when loading and unloading particularly large objects. Škoda Roomster Concept therefore has two different side views: the roofline on the driver side is continuous along the entire length of the vehicle while on the passenger side it rises in a curve because of the rear portal door. This design also has its advantages from the safety point of view because the absence of a door on the left side prevents children from getting out of the vehicle onto the road. The rear door made completely of glass and extending all the way to the rear bumper is also a very interesting detail. A large Škoda logo appears to float in the middle of this door.
Skoda Roomster Concept introduces design elements that may appear on future Škoda vehicles. Typical and well known design details of Škoda vehicles are interpreted in a new way, this is true, for example, of the grille with the typical chrome-plated frame, vertical ribbing and a logo on the top centre. The design of Skoda Roomster Concept also uses robust door columns which narrow upwards and are painted in the same colour as the vehicle and rear lights with a red frame that are reminiscent of current Škoda models. In the same way as the current models, Škoda also places great emphasis on the so-called monolithic structure: the entire body appears to be one complete cast, no part detracts from the elegant smooth shape of the compact body and the entire construction makes a reliable, solid and safe impression.
The front part of the five-seat interior includes an elegant instrument panel in beige (top) and black (bottom). The borderline between the two colours is decorated with an aluminium strip. The three-spoke steering wheel and the gear lever have original shapes. The instrument panel creates four rounded steps; an oval display is located between the two larger middle steps. There is no centre console under the instrument panel and the usual centre tunnel on the floor is also missing, giving exceptionally good legroom for the driver and passenger and providing free access to the rear seats.
Nevertheless, the most important innovation in Skoda Roomster Concept is the rear seat space. The rear seats can be moved lengthwise by 750 mm! The movable rear seats create an incredibly flexible space: with the seats in the front position the car has the usual arrangement of rear seats with a standard luggage space at the back. Moving the seats towards the back creates legroom larger than in many exclusive limousines. With the seats moved towards the back also provides completely new options for storing luggage - for example between the seats! As the rear door is extremely wide and the doorsill low getting into the car with a pram, for example, is no problem. The rear seats in the back position can also be folded, thus creating a luggage space equal to that of a small van: there is nothing to stop you from transporting, for example, a washing machine or a refrigerator.
Two lengthwise sunroofs that highlight the impression of a generous, uninhibited and bright interior are another remarkable design element. The interior lighting is located along the lengthwise console in the middle of the roof and the ventilation system outlets that distribute conditioned air to the front and rear seats are on the sides of this console.
The technology and design elements of the Skoda Roomster Concept study should appear in future generations of vehicles manufactured by Škoda. The Skoda Roomster Concept demonstrates what can be expected from Škoda in the future. This model is a prototype from a traditional brand that wishes to offer their customers not only high-quality and sophisticated vehicles, but also strives to ensure that customers will buy Škoda vehicles wholeheartedly and with passion.
